Animation Series "Variant" Marie

This is a very interesting discovery!! A friend of mine was picking up a couple of blind boxed Vinylmation Animation Series 1 and pulled an unofficial variant! As we all know (cause you've been reading my blog right? ;) ) there is one pink elephant chaser with three variants of that chaser and the variant Pinocchio. This particular Marie is missing her hair piece with bow, pictured next to a "normal" Marie.

This variant Marie is exceedingly interesting because not only is she missing her hair piece and bow, but there is no hole for the accessory piece to go in. Unfortunately, I couldn't get a good close up picture of the accessory attachment. If you look at her hair piece, the tail on Pinocchio or Mushu, or any other Vinylmation small attached accessory, you can tell that they do have some sort of hole that the accessory anchors into (sometimes the glue is also visible).

For those of you that have not seen this vinyl, this is the back view.

On another note, this is the set up for the bottom information provided on the Animation Series Vinylmation.  The Vinylmation title, the Series, the character name followed by the movie they appear in  (in italics) and then the artist signature.

For those of you who are wondering, this series does come with the artist cards!

Star Wars, Variants, and More!!

This week has been very busy with the release of Star Wars and other news! To start off, there was a  signing event at D-Street with artist Mike Sullivan. We also found out that the chaser for this series is Obi Wan and there is a super chaser: Obi Wan as a ghost!! He is supposed to be super rare, with rumors stating 1/10 cases have him, though Disney will not confirm that. I personally LOVE Obi Wan as a ghost- awesome use of a clear vinyl and making a different version of a character that is involved with the story!

Going along with the variant super chaser of Star Wars, as you may have heard there are four different versions of the Pink Elephant from the Animation series. The normal chaser is clear pink and the variants are clear purple (hard to distinguish from the clear pink but definitely a different color), opaque hot pink, and opaque light pink.

Also, Pinocchio has a variant! The normal one in the collection is Pinocchio as a donkey with the ears painted on and an accessory tail. The variant does not have ears (rather, the vinyl ears are just sky blue) and he does not have a tail. I do love this variant because of the simple fact that it is part of the story!

The urban 5 combo pack has finally shown up on DisneyStore.com! This has been available in the parks and has an exclusive figure. Many completist collectors consider this to be part of the set, even though it was not originally part of the set. So far, this has been the least popular of the "toppers". It is often referred to as the "tonal Mickey". It is attached to a sealed blind box of the Urban 5. It is a random Urban 5 figure, you could get anything in it, even a chaser!

Animation and Villains Series!

As many of you may have noticed, the two 9" Animation vinyls that were released on DisneyStore.com have sold out for now (Beast and the Pete's Dragon and Eliot combo). However if you happened to look closer at the pictures available on the Pete's Dragon and Eliot combo you can see the other 9" vinyls for this set that are planned to be released! The picture below features the new vinyls: Genie, Hyacinth Hippo, Bolt, Merlin and The Whale Who Wanted to Sing at the Met!! I am personally excited for Genie and Merlin.

Also, I have heard this has been up for a while but, DisneyStore.com has the place holder for the Villains set up:
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the packaging! I am sure I will need to get an entire case of these ;) It is rumored that these will only exclusive to the Disney Store but then again who knows what will happen. I can't wait to find out what the 9" vinyls for this set!

Two Exciting New Series!!

The Animation and Villains series are coming out soon! The Animation 1 Series is due out at Walt Disney World on January 7th and the Villains 1 Series is rumored to be Disney Store only and due for release soon!

In D-Street at WDW the Animation series is already on display at the entrance of the store. The artists made wonderful use of accessory items! Both Mushu and Pinocchio have tales (from the scene where Pinocchio is turned into a ...*ahem*...  donkey on Pleasure Island). The Fairy Godmother has a wand, Peter Pan has his hat, and Marie has a hair piece with her pink bow.

The character assortment is as follows: *****CHASER SPOILER ALERT*****
Pinocchio
Mushu (Mulan)
The Fairy Godmother (Cinderella)
Marie (The Aristocats)
Dodger (Oliver and Company)
Naveen (The Princess and the Frog)
Philocetetes "Phil"  (Hercules)
Quasimoto (The Hunchback of Notre Dame)
Aladdin
Peter Pan
Alice (...in Wonderland)
***Pink Elephant (Dumbo)***

The Villains Series on the other hand, does not use any accessory items. Although I do like the accessories and was waiting for those to start appearing, I like that they didn't use accessories in this series. I feel that it is more difficult to design without the use of the accessories (even though the first Vinylmation I decided to bring to life will have accessory pieces).  I agree with the majority of villains they chose, even though they used a few henchmen such as Banzai and Kaa (though Kaa is debatable whether he is a villain on his own or a unwilling tool of Sher Kahn). I personally want to get the entire set and am already awaiting the second set in the series!

The character assortment is as follows and once again ***** CHASER SPOILER ALERT*****
Banzai (The Lion King)
Kaa (The Jungle Book)
Governor Ratcliffe (Pocahontas)
Shan Yu (Mulan)
Stromboli (Pinocchio)
Captan Peg Leg Pete (Steamboat Wille Short)
Old Hag ~ Evil Queen in Disguise (Snow White)
Ursula (The Little Mermaid)
Prince John (Robin Hood)
Mad Madame Mim (The Sword and the Stone)
Cruella De Vil (101 Dalmations)
***Jafar (Aladdin)***
