Well, This is Slightly Horrifying

So on DisneyStore.com they recently added the Holiday Series 2 Independence Day Nine Inch Vinylmation and I am confounded. He kinda looks like a slob. First off, please use sunscreen so you don't have that lovely raccoon look. Secondly, a wife beater, REALLY?!?
I beg that this is not a mirror held up to society. He honestly would have looked better if he was, like his card, tan and not sunburned.

Vinylmation Bakery

Bluntly, I was very much worried when I saw the sneak peek photos of the Bakery series on the official Vinylmation blog:

I was worried mostly because, as you all know, I am very much against changing the original form in order to adapt it to a concept. Accessories are great, just don't change the actual form. So I was very very happy when I saw this:

Now all is right with the world! Plus these are from the original mold; no five-piece body and missing nose!

Plus I love the open box packaging!

Here are the last five of the series with and without their frosting:

Minnie, Cute as always!  I love the frosting for her, though she seems a bit naked without the frosting. Then again, in the older cartoons she only wore a skirt so maybe this isn't that naked for her.

Marie has the most adorable cupcake cup! She is just adorable, though I her face in the Animation series over this one,  it was just a bit happier.

The Cheshire Cat has awesome frosting, you just can't get away from those infamous pink stripes!

Tinkerbell: well, it is hard to create a dainty pixie on such a rounded form. It is cute but I think if you made her eyes a bit bigger it would make her seem a touch slimmer. And why is her hair tie so far away from her bun?

Ok my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE IN THIS SERIES: Mickey with icing on his face! I just think this one is so cure an funny. Perfectly captured that shocked look on his face whenever something odd happens! Plus I love his frosting with the Mickey sprinkles! It almost makes me want this instead of a birthday cake... almost!

New Designs Released!!

I am so very jealous of those lucky Disneyland annual passholders!! Two exclusive vinyls celebrate the opening of two new attractions: The Little Mermaid- Ariel's Undersea Adventure and Goofy's Sky School!

And for Car Masters Weekend a special two-figure set with Lightning McQueen and Mater:

Cutesters Like You will be released soon. You'd think I'd like more of these because I do enjoy anime very much but the only one I really want is the one in the Japanese school girl outfit just so I can obtain many of these and change the heads to look like the Sailor Scouts ;)

The following are various upcoming designs:
I LOVE the penguin, while the others I am not quite so fond of. I'm guessing the bright swirly one will appeal to those who are still living in the '80s and wishing for a unicorn...

The following are 9" designs for Urban 6
The Viking creeps me out (I much prefer the 3" that comes with the ear hat), the stars remind me of the 80's and pinball machines. I believe someone had some fun with sharpies on the white one and I actually LOVE the old style radio.

And of course the Kidada 9"! It is so cute though, I'm not sure if its some sort of candy or Minnie is looking at her reflection in a puddle... Either way, I LOVE THE JEWELRY!! Why hasn't anyone thought of this before??????

Please Let It Not Be True!!

The Sea Creatures have been out for a while now and I have found their new vinyl form to be rather lacking. For one they hacked the Mickey form into three parts!!!!! I suppose I understand it from the perspective of trying to reduce the odd paint buildup in some of the creases on the older form, but I am entirely opposed to any collectable vinyl lines changing their base form. In an art form that is based on creating designs working with a set form, it's kind of like cheating... especially on the lobster where they re-sculpted his hands:

Secondly, and most important, THEY GOT RID OF MICKEY'S NOSE!! Why oh why did you get rid of the nose??? On the Sea Creatures I could handle it but, this same form is being used for the Pirates of the Caribbean (one of my all time favorite movies). Now those beloved pirates just look like they have chubby faces and no nose!
The chubby pirates
I'm so sorry Captain Jack Sparrow!!
I just hope that the designers come to their senses and give us back our Mickey noses! It takes so much of the definition away! Plus they may never have come up with great designs using that little bump of a nose such as:

So many great designs use that lovable nose for inspiration! And if the design doesn't need the nose, paint over it as if it weren't there.

I just hope that they won't make these changes on the Do-It-Yourself vinyls.

Oliver and Company Custom!

I originally created this back in January as a surprise thank you gift and since the recipient has it, I can now post pictures!!!!

I made the box to look just like the box in the beginning of the movie.

He took about three straight days to make and then additional time for the box.

Not pictured: he has little paws on the bottom and on his hands!
